Fatal Fentanyl Overdose In Bergen County Home Leads To Arrest Of Paterson Man
After a man, 41, died in a Garfield home, detectives have charged a Paterson man.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A Paterson man was arrested last Monday in connection with the fatal fentanyl overdose of a man in a Garfield home in spring.
Gaston Navarro, 40, was charged with strict liability for drug-induced death, and with drug distribution, prosecutors said.
The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said that on April 24, around 6:43 p.m., the Garfield Police Department responded to a medical emergency at a private residence.

They found an unresponsive 41-year-old man who was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives determined that he had ingested a substance containing a lethal dose of fentanyl.

Navarro was identified as the person who'd given him the fatal dose.
Navarro was already in custody at the Bergen County Jail on an unrelated matter, prosecutors said.
After his arrest, he remains held in the Bergen County Jail pending to await a hearing in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack.
