FAIR LAWN, NJ — Two Fair Lawn High School graduates were among a trio of police who were promoted to new roles on Monday.

Eric Leitman, 45, was promoted to captain. He is a 1997 graduate of Fair Lawn High School and earned his associate's degree in criminal justice from Bergen Community College in 2005.

Captain Leitman was appointed as a corrections officer with the Bergen County Sheriff's Department in 2003, then was appointed by Fair Lawn Police in 2004, promoted to sergeant in 2010, and lieutenant in 2016. He will be assigned as captain of the patrol division.

Also, Sean Macys, 46, was promoted to lieutenant. He is a 1997 graduate of Lakeland Regional High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice from Marist University in 2001.

Lt. Macys was appointed by the Fair Lawn Police in 2005 and was promoted to sergeant in 2014. He will be assigned as a platoon commander in the patrol division.

Geovanny Buitron, 33, was promoted to sergeant. He is a 2009 graduate of Fair Lawn High School, earned a Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice from John Jay College in 2013, and a master's degree in administrative science from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2024.

Sgt. Buitron was appointed by the Fair Lawn Police Department in 2016. He will be assigned as a supervisor in the patrol division.
