Fair Lawn Dog Appears in Tyler Perry Movie
Striker, a 4-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog, appeared in "Peeples," a movie from Tyler Perry Studios directed by Tina Gordon Chism. The movie ran in theaters in May and June and is due out on DVD in the fall.The movie's trailer features Striker with star Craig Robinson, best known for his character, Darryl, on "The Office."
Fair Lawn Octogenarian Gets Five Years For Downloading Child Porn
An 81-year-old Fair Lawn man was sentenced to five years in prison Thursday for downloading images and videos showing child sexual abuse, U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman said in a statement.Joseph Anthony Amari pleaded guilty to the charges in March that he used a peer-to-peer file-sharing service to download the illegal material.

A land swap between Fair Lawn and a developer could ensure the protection of the historic Vanderbeck House, but local history buffs said the developer's plans would ruin a unique historic landscape.The Wyckoff-based Barrister Builders has been in talks with borough officials about building an assisted living home at the site on the corner of Century and Dunkerhook Roads, lying between two 18th century buildings, the Vanderbeck and Naugle Houses.
