'National Night Out' Coinciding with Fair Lawn Family Night
The annual event takes place Tuesday night in Memorial Park.

Fair Lawn Police are hosting the 30th annual National Night Out in Memorial Park Tuesday.
The Fair Lawn Recreation Department will host "Family Night" at the same time.
The events will include free food, giveaways and live music played by Touch of Grey.
Police, other emergency responders and local civic groups sponsor the annual NNO event as a crime and drug-use prevention tool. Residents can meet with the members of groups and get information about a variety of subjects.
The goals of National Night Out — which happens on the first Tuesday in August in towns across the country — are to heighten awareness of crime and drug-use prevention, generate support and participation in anti-crime programs, strengthen the relationship between police and residents and to "send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back," according to Fair Lawn Police Capt. Robert Kneer.
