Paramus IKEA Reopens After HVAC Unit Malfunctions
Black Friday shoppers at Ikea were evacuated Friday morning after the store's rooftop heating unit malfunctioned, police said.

PARAMUS, NJ – Black Friday shoppers were evacuated from Ikea in Paramus after the store’s rooftop heating unit malfunctioned Friday, according to authorities.
Paramus Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said police officers and firefighters responded to the furniture store after receiving a report around 1:20 p.m. regarding an odor in the building and promptly initiated an evacuation.
First responders “corrected the situation” and Ikea has since reopened "a short while" after that, the chief said around 2:30 p.m.
