Residents, Fire Fighters Escape Injury in Westmoreland Ave. House Fire
Cause of Monday afternoon fire remains under investigation, according to authorities
battled a blaze at a two-story residential home on Westmoreland Avenue Monday afternoon.
According to Sgt. Richard Schultz, the resident smelled smoke in the house and evacuated, along with her sister and a pet.
Police and firefighters were quickly dispatched to the location and had the fire, which had engulfed the home, contained within an hour. Holes were cut into the roof and the part of the home was cut for ventilation.

Schultz could not speculate on the level of damage inside but said smoke could be seen billowing out from both the Shop Rite and Westmoreland Elementary School.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Schultz said, adding the occupants and firefighters all escaped injury.
