Saddle Brook Student Named State Finalist in Drug Prevention Folder Contest

Valentina Loiero, a fourth grader at Franklin Elementary, was honored this week for her anti-drug artwork.

A Saddle Brook fourth grader was honored Wednesday as a state finalist for her anti-drug artwork during an awards ceremony for the 14th Annual Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey Design a Folder Contest at the Newark Museum.

Franklin Elementary's Valentina Loiero was one of 30 finalists out of more than 8,000 fourth grade students from across the state who participated in the folder contest, which asked students to create artwork with the theme, "Fun Things To Do Instead of Doing Drugs."

Loiero's colorfol folder design reads, "I got an A+ cause I don't do drugs."

The Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey believe that early prevention programs, like the folder contest, have been effective in pushing young New Jersey residents toward a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.

“These young students from around the state are setting tremendous examples for others to follow,” Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey executive director Angelo M. Valente said in a statement. "Their artwork will help other children and teens understand that there are alternatives to drugs that are fun and rewarding.”
