ELMWOOD PARK, NJ — A person driving a tractor trailer along Interstate 80 in Elmwood Park died on Saturday, when the semi-truck fell off the side of the overpass, flipped and burst into flames, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Alejandro Goez said. An investigation indicated that the tractor trailer traveled in the right shoulder, struck the guardrail, and continued over the curbed median and through the Exit 61 on-ramp, Goez said. The semi-truck crashed through a guardrail and fell off the overpass, which caused the vehicle to overturn and catch fire, and also killed the driver. No other vehicles were involved, Goez said. The driver, whose identity is pending, was reported as "erratic" prior to the crash, and the crash is still under investigation, Goez said.
