Officials are considering changing the way the service works.

Fair Lawn officials are asking residents to take part in a survey to determine the best way to operate the borough's minibus service.

Officials have considered discontinuing the bus's current loop in favor of a call-ahead service which would have the bus pick residents up at their homes and drop them off at their destinations instead of using bus stops. The service would remain free, though only trips within Fair Lawn would be allowed.

A trial of the new service is expected to start October 1 and last through the end of the year.

Any residents who want to take the survey can participate online here or pick up a written copy at the Fair Lawn Health Department, Senior Center or onboard the minibus before September 1.

Officials previously told Patch they hoped the changed service would save gas and better serve residents who have trouble walking to bus stops.
