ShopRite Shoplifter, Narcotics Arrest: Fair Lawn Blotter

FAIR LAWN, NJ - Fair Lawn police responded to a number of incidents over the past week, including the arrest of a suspect sought in a September burglary and a shoplifter at ShopRite.

Det. Anthony Lugo & Det. Brian Rypkema approached a suspicious male walking on Maple Avenue at River Road and arrested a 43-year-old New York, NY man, after arrest warrants were located out of Passaic County (no bail) & Fair Lawn ($489). He was sent to Bergen County Jail.
11/25/2019 - Burglary Arrest

On 9/9/19, Fair Lawn Police responded to residences on Morlot Avenue near Canger Place for burglaries to a home where electronics and a vehicle was taken and in the garage where tools were taken. Det. Anthony Lugo & Det. Brian Rypkema took over the investigation and found that a suspect, a 32-year-old Paterson man, had been identified as a person involved. He was charged, while already being held at Bergen County Jail, with 2 counts of burglary & 2 counts of theft. The vehicle had been recovered in Paterson by the Passaic County Sheriff׳s Departemnt on 9-12-19.
11/27/2019 7:19 p.m. - Shoplifting
P.O. John Rovetto & P.O. Geovanny Buitron responded to ShopRite, 17-17 River Road, and arrested a 51-year-old Paterson woman after she was detained by a store employee who observed her conceal unpaid items, totaling $140.72, into ShopRite bags as if they were already paid for. Arrest warrants were located out of Prospect Park ($750) & River Edge ($500). She was charged with shoplifting, then handed over to River Edge Police.
11/27/2019 6:05 p.m. - Narcotics
P.O. John Kelly & P.O. Juan Rodriguez responded to 22-18 Broadway on a report of a vehicle that had driven into a closed parking lot due to construction and arrested a 27-year-old Elmwood Park man, after crack cocaine was discovered inside the vehicle. He was released after being charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
