Speeding May Have Prompted Fair Lawn Road Rage Incident
A man was sent to the hospital Sunday night after being struck in the head with a golf club following a road rage incident in Fair Lawn.

FAIR LAWN, NJ - After getting upset over the speed another car was travelling, a Clifton man struck the driver in the head with a golf club in Fair Lawn, police said.
Following Sunday’s incident, Mariusz Czerwinski, 44, and his wife, Sylwia Czerwinska, 42, were charged following the attack, which Sgt. Brian Metzler said occurred around 7 p.m. on River Road in front of Walgreens Pharmacy.

According to Metzler, Czerwinski was driving with his wife when he passed and then stopped his van in front of a Ford Focus operated by a 23-year-old from Hawthorne.
Preliminary investigation revealed Czerwinski "was upset about the speed" that the Hawthorne man was driving, Metzler said on Tuesday.

Both drivers got out of their cars and "after words were exchanged," Czerwinski returned to his van, retrieved a golf club and struck the Hawthorne man in the head, Metzler said.
The Hawthorne man "then jumped on Czerwinski in the roadway," the sergeant said. "Czerwinska retrieved the same golf club that had been dropped during the fight and proceeded to strike the victim multiple times with the club until police arrived."
The Hawthorne man was taken to St. Joseph's Medical Center in Paterson for treatment of non-life-threatening head injuries. Czerwinski was also transported to the hospital and was later released, Metzler said.
Czerwinski and Czerwinska both face charges of aggravated assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, the sergeant said.
