Three Hospitalized in Head-On Maple Avenue Collision

A two-car accident on Maple Avenue Sunday morning sent three people to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries, police said.

Three people were hospitalized Sunday morning after two cars collided head-on at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Oak Street, police said.

A white Chevrolet Astro Van was traveling south on Maple Avenue just before 10 a.m. when it drifted into the northbound lane and collided with an oncoming Kia SUV, Sgt. Paul Scott said.

A 7-year-old child and two adults involved in the crash suffered non life-threatening head, neck and back injuries and were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, Lt. Derek Bastinck said.

Maple Avenue was closed in both directions for a short time while the accident scene was cleared, Bastinck said. Both vehicles sustained extensive front-end damage and were towed from the scene. 

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
