Week Ahead: Mary Ann Collura Memorial and Concert, Litter Clean Up Day

  • Monday, April 15
  1. Fair Lawn public schools are closed this week for spring recess.
  2. The Saddle Brook Department of Public Works will be flushing water mains from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Residents may experience low water pressure or discolored tap water during this time. Click here for the flushing schedule.
  3. Portions of five Fair Lawn roads near the high school will close simultaneously from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for a one-day milling and paving project that may delay commute times.
  4. The Saddle Brook Board of Education meets for a caucus meeting at 7:30 p.m. in Room 120 of the Middle/High School.
  • Tuesday, April 16

    2. The Saddle Brook Department of Public Works will be flushing water mains from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Residents may experience low water pressure or discolored tap water during this time. Click here for the flushing schedule.
    3. Fair Lawn borough council will hold a work session at 7:30 p.m in borough hall Room 201.

    1. Fair Lawn public schools are closed this week for spring recess.

    3. Fair Lawn will hold a memorial service outside borough hall to honor Officer Mary Ann Collura on the 10th anniversary of her murder. 
    4. The Saddle Brook Board of Education meets for a regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. in Room 120 of the Middle/High School.

    3. The Hawthorne Fire Department Marching/Concert Band will present its 10th Annual Memorial Spring Concert in loving memory of Antoinette Gathman at 8:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Van Riper Ellis Broadway Baptist Church. Admission is free.
    • Saturday, April 20
    1. The Fair Lawn Recycling Division's first of three litter clean-up events will be help from 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. To register as a volunteer, call (201)-794-5304 at least three days prior to the clean up day to assure room on the bus. Volunteers will meet at the Recycling Office, located at 20-05 Saddle River Road. The bus leaves promptly at 9 a.m.
    2. The Helen I. Smith School PTA hosts a Spring Shopping Event from 11 a.m.  to 4 p.m. in the Saddle Brook High School gymnasium. Vendors from a variety of Direct Sales Companies and homemade crafters will be there to sell their products.
    3. Van Riper Ellis Broadway Baptist Church will hold a memorial concert at 7 p.m. to honor the memory of slain police officer Mary Ann Collura, who was killed in the line of duty on April 17, 2003.
    4. The New Vision Players present their production of “Into the Woods” at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Fair Lawn Community Center. Tickets are $20. For information, call 201-632-3532 or visit www.newvisionplayers.com

    2. Temple Beth Sholom of Fair Lawn continues its Meet the Authors Program at 7 p.m. with Dr. Neil Kressel, professor at William Paterson University. Dr. Kressel will speak on, “Understanding the Roots of Antisemitism in the Muslim World."
