Week Ahead: Spring Fling, Daisy-Brownie Day, Interact Cut-a-Thon

A look at what's on tap this week in Fair Lawn-Saddle Brook.

  • Monday, April 29
  1. Fair Lawn is offering free blood pressure screenings at Borough Hall from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  2. Come out and support the Fair Lawn High School softball team as they play St. Mary's at 6 p.m. at the Dobrow Complex and raise awareness for lung cancer. The "Strike Out Lung Cancer" night will honor Lisa Sudol, the mother of senior shortstop Ashley Sudol, who recently died of lung cancer. Any donations made at the game will be given to Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

    • Friday, May 3
    1. The H.B. Milnes School PTA is holding its Annual Spring Fling Carnival at Thomas Jefferson Middle School, complete with games, rides and food The carnival runs from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday. May 4th from 2pm - 11pm and May 5th from 1pm - 7pm.
    2. The Filipino-American Association of Fair Lawn will host its first Pasta Dinner fundraiser at 6 p.m. in the St. Anne’s Church Hall. Proceeds will go exclusively to benefit the FAAFL’s annual Binhi scholarship awards to outstanding area students.  Ticket are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $6 for children. The event is BYOB.
    3. Fair Lawn’s from Friday, May 3 through Saturday, May 11 at the Radburn Association Grange Hall, 29-20 Fair Lawn Avenue. The show Friday begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults ($10 for members) and $12 for students and seniors.

    1. Fair Lawn Boy Scouts Troop 53 will hold a $5 All-You-Can-Eat Pancake Breakfast at Our Savior Lutheran Church from 8 a.m. to noon to help defray the cost of camp. Children under 4 eat free.
    2. Children can enjoy crafts, games and coloring at Daisy-Brownie Day, held from 9 a.m. to noon at the First Reformed Church of Saddle Brook, located at 5 Ackerman Ave. Lunch will not be served but light food will be available. Tickets are $15.
    3. The H.B. Milnes School PTA is holding its Annual Spring Fling Carnival at Thomas Jefferson Middle School, complete with games, rides and food this weekend. The carnival runs from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday. 
    4. The Fair Lawn High School Class of 1987 will hold its 26-year reunion at Fire Company No. 3 at 7 p.m. Admission is $35.00 per person and includes finger food and open bar. Click here for more details.

    1. Bellezza Salon in Glen Rock will host a Cut-a-Thon beginning at 9 a.m. This year, all proceeds will go to the family of Sigi Nissimov and the Fair Lawn ADA Committee. Nissimov, the owner of Life Movement Dance Studio in Fair Lawn, died of cancer earlier this year at the age of 43. The money raised at Sunday's Cut-a-Thon will help her family pay for medical bills and other expenses.
