Woman Killed In Bergen County By NJ Transit Train Is Identified
A woman who was fatally struck by a train in Bergen County during daylight hours last week has been identified.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A woman who was fatally struck by an NJ Transit train in Hackensack last week has been identified.
Luz E. Lopez, 79, of Hackensack was the victim, said the agency.
A NJ Transit spokesperson said othat a pedestrian was walking near Sussex Street and Railroad Avenue just before 10 a.m. last Thursday when she was struck.

The Pascack Valley Line Train 1651 had departed Hoboken at 9:34 a.m. and was near Essex Street Station in Hackensack, the spokesperson said. The train was scheduled to arrive in New Bridge Landing station in River Edge minutes later, at 10:01 a.m.
The agency did not release further details about the victim. Records indicate that she lived approximately eight blocks from the station.

The five customers and crew on board were not injured, the agency said.
Service on the Pascack Valley line was temporarily suspended.
New Jersey Transit Police are investigating.
