Crossing Guard Hit, Killed While On Duty Near NJ Elementary School
The crossing guard was working at a crosswalk that is a short distance from High Bridge Elementary School when he was hit, authorities said.
HIGH BRIDGE, NJ — An on-duty crossing guard died of his injuries Wednesday after he was hit by a vehicle in High Bridge, authorities said.
Robert Bork, 75, of High Bridge, was hit about 12:10 p.m. Wednesday by a vehicle that was headed south on County Route 513, known locally as Fairview Avenue, at the intersection with Larrison Road, the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office said.
Bork was employed as a crossing guard by the High Bridge Police Department and the intersection where he was hit is just a short distance from High Bridge Elementary School.

The prosecutor's office did not release any information about the driver or the vehicle that hit Bork.
The crash remains under investigation by members of the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office’s Forensic Analysis Collision Team and the High Bridge Police Department. No summonses have been issued at this time.
