NJ School Custodian Had Child Sex Abuse Photos, Videos On Snapchat Account: Prosecutor

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ — A school custodian in Hunterdon County was arrested after police say they found images and videos of child sexual abuse material saved to his Snapchat account.

Carlos E. Barraza, 34, of Raritan Township, was charged with one count of third-degree possession of child sexual abuse material and one count of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, announced Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson on Thursday.

An investigation was started when the victim, a minor, reported to the York County Regional Police (PA) that she sent two images of her intimate body parts to a user on Snapchat, said Robeson.

The IP history for that Snapchat account was linked to Barraza, said Robeson.

"A review of the Snapchat account revealed 16 unique images and videos of child sexual abuse material saved to the account," said Robeson.

On Sept. 4, 2025, Barraza, a custodial employee contracted by the Flemington Raritan School District, was taken into custody without incident.

Barraza is lodged at the Warren County Jail pending his first appearance. Senior Assistant Prosecutor Laura L. Nazzaro represents the State.

Barraza faces a term of imprisonment between three and five years and a fine not to exceed $15,000 for the third-degree charges.
