HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ — A woman is facing multiple charges after prosecutors said she broke into a Hunterdon County home to steal a dog.

Jennifer L. Goldthwaite 45, of Alpha, was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary and disorderly criminal mischief after the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office said she broke into a Holland Township home intending on stealing a dog.

Prosecutors did not release additional details about the incident.

When contacted by NJ Advance Media, investigators said no animals were stolen and the homeowners did not know the woman.

Goldthwaite was taken to Warren County Jail and was later released on conditional pre-trial monitoring, prosecutors said.

If convicted, Goldthwaite faces up to five years in prison and a $15,000 fine.
