Here are some events worth checking out in our neck of the woods ... and river

It appears that as the work week ends, so does this gorgeous weather. Hopefully, the rain will hold off so we can at least enjoy the days; especially since there are some really great outdoor events scheduled.
Hudson River Events
1. What: Spring Tide at Mrs. Kearney’s Tavern

Why: Really, when have you ever been invited to a spawning party without having to bring a hostess gift or work it out in couples’ therapy? Celebrate the honored ancient rite of the annual run of shad up the river to spawn. Festivities include a genuine 19th century fish bake, games and fun for the kids!
2. What: Wild New Jersey: Nature Adventures in the Garden State reading and book signing by David Wheeler.
Where: Alpine Boat Basin, Exit 2 off PIP, Alpine; Alpine Picnic Pavilion.
When: Sunday 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Why: Wild New Jersey? You’re at a spawning party—how much wilder can it get? David Wheeler will tell you!
Communing with Nature
1. What: Audubon Field Trip: Teaneck Creek Conservancy
Where: Teaneck Creek Conservancy, 20 Puffin Way, Teaneck
When: Sunday 9:30 a.m.
Why: Calling all bird watchers! Warblers, spring migrants and more! Teaneck Creek Conservancy is a forested freshwater wetlands and premium rest stop in the eastern flyway for migrating birds.
2. What: Bergen County Historical Society’s Walking Tour of New Bridge Landing
Where: New Bridge Landing, 1201 Main Street, River Edge
When: Sunday 10 a.m.
Why: Bet the last time you did this you were in the fourth Grade! Come and see it as an adult—you’ll really appreciate it this time around.

5. What: Diabetes Foundation Run the Palisades 5K & Health Fair

Why: Benefits the Diabetes Foundation and you get a free health screening.
6. What: Windows on the Park III "Public Space-Private Space

When: Sunday 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Why: Showcases the work of the Puffin Camera Club, the Young Puffin Camera Club, and Thomas Jefferson Middle School 8th Graders using images mounted in window frames hung outdoors in the Teaneck Creek Conservancvy. FREE
7. What: World Music: Singers of United Lands (S.O.U.L.)

Why: Diversity, song and culture. Great afternoon of music.

Why: A madcap musical that takes you behind the imagined scenes of the 1938 radio broadcast of “War of the Worlds” promises a night of great theater!

Why: One woman’s trash is another woman’s treasure.
10. What: "After Anne Frank" with Carol Lempert

Why: A thought-provoking, funny, one-woman show about Anne Frank.
