Take our poll: Which of these events do you plan to attend?

On Tuesday, Fort Lee residents interested in local politics, the local school system and local history—or some combination thereof—are in for a big night.
That’s because three events taking place essentially back-to-back-to-back are scheduled that could respectively help determine the immediate future of the school district, help undecided voters make up their minds about how they’d like to see the borough’s governing body composed come January and provide a glimpse at Fort Lee’s historic past.
First up at 6 p.m. in the library is the Fort Lee Board of Education’s special public meeting on the role of acting superintendent.

The board will not return from their private work session.

The BOE’s next regular business meeting is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 17, at 8 p.m.
Then at 7:30 p.m. at the United Homeowners of Fort Lee will host a "candidates night"—a debate among candidates running for local office, including Fort Lee Mayor and two seats on the Borough Council.
Invited to participate Tuesday are Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich, the Democratic incumbent, and Republican mayoral candidate Judith Fisher, as well as incumbent Council members Armand Pohan and Michael J. Sargenti—both Democrats—and their Republican challengers, Martha Cohen and Alfred V. Norton III.
Finally, at 8 p.m. at the , Emmy Award-winning writer Alan Brennert will give a reading from his not-yet-published novel about Palisades Amusement Park, Palisades Park.
The event is part of the Fort Lee Historical Society’s exhibit, “Palisades Amusement Park: Our Last Summer in the Sun,” which runs through January 29, 2012.
Seating is limited, and entry is free on a first-come, first-served basis.
It should also be noted for those interested in both the candidates’ debate and Brennert’s reading that “Candidates Night” will be broadcast in its entirety on Oct. 27 and 29 at 8 p.m. on Time Warner Cable channel 81.
