BOE Meeting, Planning Board, School and Library Events & The “Tour” This Week

A quick look at some of what's going on in Fort Lee this week

Below is a quick look at five things you should know about this week and/or might not want to miss:

Number one:

The Fort Lee Board of Education meets Monday at 8 p.m. in the School No. 1 library for its regular business meeting. The agenda for the meeting is highlighted by a resolution that would appoint now Assistant Superintendent of Schools Steven Engravalle as Acting Superintendent of Schools effective November 1.

Number two

There will also be a regular public meeting of the Fort Lee Planning Board Monday at Borough Hall’s Council Chambers. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. with a work session and continues at 7:30 p.m. with a regular public meeting.

Number three

The Guidance Department is hold a “Fall Postsecondary Planning Night” Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Fort Lee High School. Parents and students are encouraged to attend together, and all four high school grade-levels are welcome, according the guidance department officials.

Number four

Events taking place at the this week include a screening of the Hindi/Urdu film Saawariya (2007)—directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and sttarring Rankir Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Salman Khan—at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and "Bowing Out of the Box....To Make a Difference," a musical “smorgasboard” by cellist and pianist E. Zoe Hassman at 2 p.m. Sturday. Both events take place at the library’s lower-level meeting room.

Number five:

And next Sunday, Oct. 2, Fort Lee residents will have the opportunity to “tour” the borough by bicycle or on foot as the Fort Lee Education Foundation once again sponsors the annual “Tour de Fort Lee.”

The event includes a 12-mile ride through town, a two-mile walk for those who prefer, refreshments, prizes and a 50/50 raffle—all providing support for programs in all six of Fort Lee’s public schools.

Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. at the , and the event begins at 9 a.m. rain or shine.
