Last week a state assembly committee served 20 subpoenas to top Port Authority officials and some of the governorβs most trusted advisorsβincluding Kelly.
Christie, who said he has had no involvement in the lane closures and has pledged to cooperate with all appropriate investigations, recently hired a defense attorney to conduct an internal review regarding the George Washington Bridge lane closures.
The New York Times, however, observed thatΒ the hiring of Randy Mastro,Β aΒ longtime associate of former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, might indicate that Christie wasΒ maneuvering against the assembly's inquiry.
