December 7, 1941. “A Date which will live in Infamy”: Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

Perhaps, with a last name like “Pearl”, I relate to this event closer than most people. Or maybe because my father participated in WWII. Whatever the reason, it is a date that “must never be forgotten”!

We live in a world of hatred, racism, and anti-Semitism, with despots ruling a multitude of countries. We have a raging war in the Ukraine and a war on temporary hold in Gaza. We have a genocide in Nigeria and mass executions in South Sudan. Myanmar is unstable, as are so many other countries around the world.

World War II ended and led to the cold war. The United Nations was created but its impact on World Peace is nil. Nato has been nullified by Trump as an organization for Peace. Three nations, the Netherlands, Spain & Slovenia dropped out of Eurovision Song Contest because Israel is being allowed to participate. How many nations dropped out of FIFA, when “the Emirates’ became the major sponsor, knowing how women are treated in most of the Arab nations? The world is on a precipice with the future in doubt.

Young people in NYC helped elect a “communist/socialist mayor in NYC, Mamdani. He just declared that he will end the “homeless sweeps”. They will not be relocated when “camping out” throughout the city. Has anyone ever bothered to give this guy an IQ test? At least the homeless will be able to ride on the “free buses” he has promised. Question; if you are homeless, are you entitled to “free day care”? Just asking!

In the 1951 epic “The Day the Earth Stood Still”, Michael Rennie declares that the people of Earth are dangerous and that the other planets that have achieved peace do not believe that Earth is worth saving. He may have been correct. “Klaatu Birada Nikto. Let Gort loose once and for all and end the chaos.
