Feast of St. Rocco, Shakespeare, Music and Movies This Week

5 Things: There are plenty of things going on in Fort Lee this week for those who love tradition, theater, music and movies

Here’s a quick look at five things you should know about and might not want to miss this week:

Number one:

The Saint Rocco Society of Fort Lee will once again bring back the tradition that is the Feast of Saint Rocco this week.

To kickoff the feast on Wednesday at 7 p.m. is a free performance by Italian-American comedian Uncle Floyd Vivino on the stage on Martha Washington Way near Bridge Plaza South (Bruce Reynolds Blvd.). Bring a chair and enjoy what promises to be a great performance.Β

The first performance last week was shortened by rain.

The Fort Lee Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs presents the free, summer performances, with another performance of Henry V coming up next week and two performances of Tymon of Athens coming up later in August.

Number three:

The next edition of β€œMusic Under the Stars” is Wednesday at the at 1355 Inwood Terrace. This week’s edition of the ongoing summer concert series features Three Po’ Tenors.

The show starts at 7:30 p.m. As always, you are reminded to bring a blanket or lawn chair because seating is limited.

Number four:

Also at the community center, Fort Lee's annual Movies and Music Under the Stars continues Saturday when the music will be provided by Little Paradise, a Pat Benatar tribute band, and the movie will be the 2010 Academy Award winner for Best Picture, The King’s Speech, staring Academy Award winner for Best Actor Colin Firth and Academy Award winners for Best Support Actor and Actress respectively, Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter.

The weekly event takes place Saturday evenings/nights through Labor Day weekend.

Music is from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and the movies start at sunset. Programs will take place indoors in the event of rain.

Number Five

The Fort Lee Farmer’s Market continues Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fort Lee Community Center’s plaza area on Inwood Terrace.

Vendors this year include Sunden's Stone Pointe Farms, Senor Peanut, Meredith Breads, Mortgage Apple Cakes, Semi Sweet Desserts and Vesco Foods, serving up olives, marinated mushrooms, pickles, sun dried tomatoes. For more information call 201-693-2763.
