Get Out: Earth Day Edition
Wondering what to do this weekend? We've done the leg work so you don't have to. There's a variety of local happenings to keep everyone entertained. This weekend we get an early jump on Earth Day!
When/Where: Friday 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Bounce U, 70 Eisenhower Drive, Paramus.
Why Go: Because supporting Child Life Therapy Programs is always a good thing to do.

2. Rock Around the Bunny Hop at the NJ Children's Museum
When/Where: Friday 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.; NJ Children's Museum, 599 Valley Health Plaza, Paramus.

Why Go: A great excuse to dress in your sock-hop best, eat pizza and meet the Easter Bunny! $17.99/per person children & adults. Purchase tickets on-line.
3. St. Mary's of Rutherford Annual Spring Carnival.
When/Where: Friday 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Memorial Field, Darwin Ave, Rutherford.
Why Go: If the Carnival’s in town spring must be here. Also, supporting a school is always a good thing to do, especially when you can have so much fun doing it.
4. St. Anne Stages "Bill & Ted Save Broadway"
When/Where: Friday and Saturday 7:30 p.m. and Sunday 3 p.m.; Theater at the Fair Lawn Community Center, 10-10 20th St, Fair Lawn. Tickets $20/adults; Children under 11 & seniors $18.
Why Go: Great community theater that’s affordable for the whole family.
5. Palisades Interstate Park Hike for Dogs & Their Owners to "Greenbrook Falls"
When/Where: Saturday 10 a.m. Meet Guide Christina Fehre at the entrance to Alpine Boat Basin & Picnic Area (PIP Exit 2). About 4 miles, 2.5 hrs. Dogs must be leashed.
Why Go: A great way for you and your dog to exercise. Also a great way to meet people. You don’t need a dog to take the hike.
6. Earth Day Widlflower Walk at Tenafly Nature Center
When/Where: Saturday 1 p.m.; Tenafly Nature Center, 313 Hudson Ave, Tenafly.
Why Go: Think globally and celebrate locally while enjoying a leisurely trail walk led by a seasoned naturalist. For adults and children nine years and older. Pre-registration is requested.
7. Palisades Interstate Park “Geology Rocks” Guided Hike for Children with Christina Fehre
When/Where: Saturday 2 p.m. Meet at the entrance to Englewood Boat Basin & Picnic Area (PIP Exit 1). About 1.5 miles, 2 hours, easy with rocky sections. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Free.
Why Go: Because Geology Rocks and so does Christina Fehre’s hikes!
8. Bergen County Court Lot Flea Market & Collectible Show Outdoors
When/Where: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bergen County Courthouse Parking Lot, River Road, Hackensack.
Why Go: You can always get some great finds at a flea market! Think shabby chic.
9. Spring Cleaning at Children’s Garden for Earth Day at Flat Rock Brook Nature Center
When/Where: Saturday 3 p.m.; Flat Rock Brook Nature Center, 443 Van Nostrand Avenue, Englewood.
Why Go: A chance to get dirty and have some fun preparing the Children’s Garden for a wonderful growing season. No need to register. Free for all.
10. Drop In Saturdays at Leonia's The Craft Lounge
When/Where: Drop in anytime between noon and 5 p.m.; The Craft Lounge, 324 Broad Ave, Leonia
Why Go: A great way to meek like-minded crafters without committing to a class. This week the girls are making crocheted flowers with Susie Levy!
11. Battleground Tour of New Bridge Landing
When/Where: Saturday 11 a.m.; Historic New Bridge Landing, Main Street, River Edge.
Why Go: Because New Bridge was an important crossing point in Bergen County and the scene of many revolutionary battles. It was the “Bridge” that saved a nation. Suggested donation: $7 adults, $5 children, BCHS members free.
When/Where: Sunday 8 a.m.; McBride Field, Across from Market Basket, Franklin Lake Road, Franklin Lakes.
Why Go: Because the Angels of Hope reach out to local communities to create awareness about women's health issues, including breast, ovarian, cervical, uterine and colon cancer.
13. Hackensack River Keeper Party for the Planet at Van Saun Zoo
When/Where: Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Bergen County Zoo, Van Saun Park, 216 Forest Avenue, Paramus.
Why Go: How better to celebrate Earth Day than by learning about conservation in Bergen County? Zoo admission is free for the day.
14. Earth Day Clean-up at Tenafly Nature Center
When/Where: Sunday 10 a.m.; Tenafly Nature Center, 313 Hudson Ave, Tenafly.
Why Go: Do something nice for our Earth this year!
15. Earth Day Walk to Greenbrook Sanctuary
When/Where: Sunday 12:30 p.m.; Tenafly Nature Center, 313 Hudson Ave, Tenafly.
Why Go: Because the Sanctuary is not ordinarily open to the public so any chance you get to visit this part of the Palisades you should! Pre-registration is requested.
16. Wild Art at Flat Rock Brook Nature Center
When/Where: Sunday 3 p.m.; Flat Rock Brook Nature Center, 443 Van Nostrand Avenue, Englewood.
Why Go: Exploring and crafting with nature is always lots of fun. For children ages 7 to 10. Registration required. $5 members, $8 non-members.
17. Bergen County Historical Society Presents Lafayette's Return Visit in 1824-1825
When/Where: Sunday 1 p.m.; Steuben House, Historic New Bridge Landing, Main Street, River Edge.
Why Go: Learn about our French ami from historians and watch a screening of “Lafayette: The Lost Hero,” a one-hour PBS biography. Suggested donation: $7 adult, $5 children, BCHS members free.
