In Sandy's Aftermath, What's Open in Fort Lee
Post the latest open restaurants, gas stations and other useful stores in and around the borough.
Sandy slammed Fort Lee, leaving thousands without power and trees down all over town, but some areas of town have power—Main Street, for example, and the area of Anderson Avenue near Fort Lee School No. 4.
Below is a partial list of local stores open for business, based on a quick, informal survey of those areas, where, not surprisingly, many businesses were, in fact, open:
- Tasteatery on Anderson
- Cafasso’s Fairway Market on Anderson
- Bagel & Deli on Anderson
- Big Red Tomato on Anderson
- The Gulf station and Dunkin Donuts on Anderson
However note that lines were extremely long Thursday morning with both cars waiting to fill up and people waiting to fill their gas cans.

The charging center is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily until the curfew—part of Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich’s emergency declaration—is lifted. After that, the community center hours are likely to be extended.
