Josh Gottheimer’s “hometown heroes” ceremony at the Barrymore Film Center, where 99-year-old World War II veteran and borough resident August “Augie” Caccavone was honored. Local leaders praised quiet community servants from across North Jersey, including first responders, volunteers, teens and longtime public safety officials recognized for decades of service and acts of bravery.
