Local Chiropractors Gain National Attention For ‘Healing Heroes’ Free

"Healing Hands 4 Heroes," a program that offers free chiropractic services to returning veterans, was recently the subject of a report on CBS

In October Patch reported on Dr. Michael Errichiello and his partner at Chiropractic Healthcare Associates at Health One in Ridgefield, Dr. Vineta S. Zalite, joining other members of the Association of New Jersey Chiropractors (ANJC) across the state in treating returning veterans of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars for free.

Errichiello, who serves on the board of directors of the Greater Fort Lee Chamber of Commerce and is a member and two-time past president of the Fort Lee Rotary, and Zalite teamed with Army OneSource, a U.S. Army community outreach program, and the Army Community Covenant to raise awareness about the unique challenges of military life for service members and their families and to address the growing need for accessible health services for war veterans.

Those efforts gained national attention recently, when the chiropractors received a call from CBS news.

“They came to our office to run a piece on the program nationally,” Errichiello said in an email to Patch. “Unfortunately it didn't air in this area.”

However it did air in Virginia, where WTKR-TV NewsChannel 3 ran the story and posted it on its website.

"These young men and women are heroes; they're risking themselves in Iraq and Afghanistan to save us, to keep us free,” Errichiello told CBS. “It's important to give something back to them.”

Marine Corporal Sarang Ju, who came to Dr. Errichiello with severe lower-back pain after serving in Iraq for 13 months, told CBS, "I feel good; I'm able to do everyday stuff without any pain. I actually haven't felt pain since Doctor E fixed me up.”

Errichiello, who feels strongly about the issue, said he’s not done promoting “Healing Hands 4 Heroes” just yet.

“I’m trying to get it to Dr. Oz and his program,” he said. “I figure it's worth a shot.”

Stay tuned.
