Man Dead After GWB Plunge

A man jumped to his death from the New Jersey side of the George Washington Bridge Tuesday morning, officials said. 

A Port Authority spokesman said the male body was recovered by an FDNY boat and brought to Ross Dock around 9 a.m. 

Authorities found a briefcase left on the bridge's south walkway, but have not confirmed it belonged to the man, the spokesman said. 

Police briefly closed the hazard ramps near Ross Dock while emergency crews brought the body to shore, authorities said.
