Police: Remove Vehicles from Snowy Fort Lee Roads or Face Tow

Fort Lee Police Tuesday morning warned residents to move their vehicles from borough streets as snow begins to fall across Bergen County.

"There is a winter storm warning in effect from today at 12 noon through 6 AM on Wednesday 1/22/2014," police wrote in a Facebook post. "Bergen County is expected to get 6 to 10 inches of snow, and the roadways are expected to be snow covered by this evening's commute.

"The Fort Lee Police Department will begin snow street removal procedures shortly, as covered under borough ordinance 388-37. Please remove all vehicles from snow streets to avoid summonses and/or having your vehicle towed."

"The vehicles need to be moved as soon as the road is covered, no accumulations needed, just snow covered," said Fort Lee Police Capt. Thomas Ottina.

A winter storm warning has been issued for all of North Jersey with as much as 10 inches of snow possible by Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

The warning is in effect from noon Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday with snow starting Tuesday morning and intensifying in the afternoon and evening hours, the NWS said.
