Poll: Can Republicans Win in Fort Lee?
Democratic candidates—whether incumbent or challengers—won in nearly every Fort Lee voting district Tuesday and overall in every race

When the votes were counted after the General Election Tuesday, Democratic candidates in all of the races—county, state and local—in which Fort Lee voters cast their ballots came out on top.
The Democratic incumbents for Mayor and Council were re-elected relatively easily, while in other races, Fort Lee voters followed a similar pattern:

Loretta Weinberg (D-incumbent) – 3,830; Robert S. Levobics (R) – 1,830
General Assembly

Gordon Johnson (D-incumbent) – 3,544; Valerie Huttle (D-incumbent) – 3,117; Keith Jensen (R) – 1,942; John Aslanian (R) – 1,871
County Clerk
John S. Hogan (D) – 3,570; Elizabeth Randall (R-incumbent) – 1,914
Surrogate
Michael Dressler (D-incumbent) – 3,672; Andrew Cimiluca (R) – 1,859
Freeholder
David Ganz (D-incumbent) – 3,532; Joan Voss (D) – 3,795; Joel Brizzi (R) – 1,779; Anthony Rottino (R) – 1,737
Fort Lee Council candidate Alfred V. Norton III, who only entered the race in mid-September but garnered more than 1,800 votes, noted that in a borough where registered Democrats far outnumber registered Republicans, “We hardly consider [the results of the local election] a mandate."
Norton added that Republicans “will continue to reach out to Democrats and the 7,000 unaffiliated voters in Fort Lee.”
