2025 Primary Election: What To Know In Monmouth County

The primary election is set to take place this summer. Here are key dates voters should know in Monmouth County:

MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ — While the General Election just took place in November 2024, it will soon be election season again with the upcoming 2025 Primary Election this summer.

As the primaries approach, there are important dates and information voters should be aware of.

Here are some key dates you should know from the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office:

  • March 24: Nominating petition deadline for candidates
  • April 16: Deadline to change party affiliation
  • April 19: Mail-in ballots start being mailed
  • May 20: Voter registration deadline
  • June 6-8: Early voting period
  • June 10: Primary Election Day

Voter Information
To register to vote, you can register online or download and complete the NJ Voter Registration Form (English) / NJ Voter Registration Form (Spanish).

Completed forms can be mailed or delivered to Christopher Siciliano, Monmouth County Superintendent of Elections at 300 Halls Mill Road, Freehold.

If you’re registered to vote and would like to affiliate with a political party, you can download and complete the NJ Party Affiliation Form and mail or deliver it to Christopher Siciliano, Monmouth County Superintendent of Elections at 300 Halls Mill Road, Freehold.

Vote-By-Mail Information
To apply for a mail-in ballot, you can download and complete the Vote by Mail Ballot Application (English) / Vote by Mail Application (Spanish).

Applications can be mailed or delivered to Christine Giordano Hanlon, Monmouth County Clerk of Elections at 300 Halls Mill Road, Freehold.

Mail-in ballots for the June Primary Election are mailed 45 days before Election Day, according to the Monmouth County Votes website. For instructions on how to vote your ballot, you can click here.

To return a voted mail-in ballot, you can send it to the Board of Elections Office at 300 Halls Mill Road, Freehold, or send it to one of the county's ballot drop-box locations.
