Accident on Route 537 Downs Utility Pole, Closes Road In Freehold Twp.

Police: Route 537 between Hunt and Kozloski roads in Freehold Twp. was closed as late as the evening rush hour Monday; power disrupted.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — A portion of Colts Neck Road (County Route 537) was closed through the evening rush hour Monday as crews continued to work on a downed utility pole, police said.

The road was closed Monday morning from Hunt Road to Kozloski Road due to a motor vehicle crash that took down a utility pole, police said.

At its peak, electric service was disrupted to 470 customers, JCP&L spokesman Chris Hoenig said, and 26 customers were still without service as of Monday evening.

Township police did not have details Monday on the accident itself, other than that it created the traffic problem.

The Monmouth County Transportation Department was assisting with the road closure and detours, police added.
