Freehold Borough To Offer Free Rabies Vaccination Clinic

The clinic will be open to those who need vaccinations for their cats or dogs. Dog and cat licensing will also be offered for residents.

FREEHOLD BOROUGH, NJ — Freehold Borough is set to offer a free rabies vaccination clinic for cats and dogs in January, the borough recently announced.

From 1-3 p.m. on Jan. 10, the vaccination clinic will be open at the Freehold Borough Fire House, located at 49 West Main Street.

For registration purposes, attendees will be asked their name, address, telephone number, the name and breed of their pet, his/her age, whether or not he/she is neutered or spayed, and whether this is the animal’s first rabies vaccination.

There is no limit as to the number of animals attendees can bring to be vaccinated, officials said, though dogs must be on a short leash and cats must be in a carrier.

“The vaccination offers protection for your pet, family and the community,” borough officials said. “It reduces the risk of euthanasia if a pet is exposed to rabies and complies with local laws and regulations.”

Participating animals must be at least three months old in order to be vaccinated, officials said.

The first vaccination for an animal is good for one year, while all subsequent vaccinations offer protection for three years. A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine will administer the vaccines.

For convenience purposes, dog and cat licensing will also be offered during the clinic, officials said.

Any Freehold Borough resident can register their cat(s) or dog(s). Those registering will be asked to provide proof of spay or neuter dates, and licensing fees will apply (cash or check only):

  • Annual Dogs ($14.20 or $11.20 if spayed or neutered)
  • Annual Cats ($10)
  • 3-Year Dog License ($42.60 or $33.60 if spayed or neutered)
  • 3-Year Cats ($30)
