After The Reign Playing Before The Rain

The featured act for this week’s Downtown Freehold Fall Concert Series is a fitting one as the weather prepares to turn from lots of sunshine to a few inches of rain.

As long as the weather holds off country music act After The Reign is expected to take the stage starting at 7 p.m. If the National Weather Service is right Wednesday could be the last time we see any sustained sunshine until as late as Sunday.

What is so far being called a prolonged coastal storm is expected to roll across our area tonight through Saturday according to the latest forecasts. The storm could mean minor coastal flooding at high tide and gale force wind conditions are also possible. Inland the wind gusts are expected to be between 15 and 30 MPH increasing to over 35 MPH closer to the shore. By the time the storm is done the forecast for total rainfall is expected to be between 1 and 3 inches.

Today is Curious Events Day so it is possible the storm could bring more than expected, it is also Fire Prevention Day and Moldy Cheese Day. On this date in 1653 Roger Williams was banished from the Massachusetts Bay Colony. In 1701 The Collegiate School of Connecticut, now known as Yale University was chartered. Tourists in Washington DC got their first view of the Washington Monument on this date in 1888.
