Capture Monmouth County Life In Annual High School Photography Contest

The Monmouth County Clerk's Office is inviting high schoolers throughout the county to submit their photography for this year's contest.

FREEHOLD, NJ — The Monmouth County Clerk’s Office is inviting high school photographers around the county to enter this year’s High School Photography Contest.

The 2024 contest theme – “Monmouth County Life Through a Lens” – asks contestants to enter an original, black-and-white or color photograph capturing something significant or special about Monmouth County life today that should be preserved for future generations.

First-, second-, and third-place winners will each receive gift cards ranging from $150-$200 for prizes, and submitted photographs will be archived by the Monmouth County Archives and become property of the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office.

Contest winners will be honored at Archives & History Day on Oct. 26 at Brookdale Community College.

According to Monmouth County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon, the event showcases guest speakers, a featured exhibit related to County history and representatives from local history organizations.

“Since 1995, the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office has hosted Archives & History Day every October, which marks American Archives Month,” Giordano Hanlon said. “The event celebrates various aspects of Monmouth County’s rich history.”

Contest submission is open to all high school students living in Monmouth County and/or attending a high school in Monmouth County.

Each contestant is permitted to submit one original photograph for the contest, officials said, and entries will be accepted through Oct. 18, 2024.

To submit photography, contestants can email ClerkContest@co.monmouth.nj.us with the subject line “2024 High School Photography Contest.”

Attached photos should be in a JPG format with 300 dpi resolution and a maximum file size of 20 MB.
