Covenhoven House Holding Special Event Saturday

A look at events happening around Freehold this weekend.

There is never a shortage of things to eat in our area but this weekend local residents will have a chance to see how people at more than 200 years ago.

The Covenhoven House will be hosting a demonstration of open hearth cooking on Saturday. Visitors to the historic Main Street property will be able to not only take a tour but also see and taste cooking examples from the 18th century. For more information call 732-432-1466 or visit their website.

Once you have tried some historical treats the local VFW post is offering a Spaghetti Dinner on Saturday night. Doors open at 4 p.m. and tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children under 10. The meal includes pasta, salad, bread and iced tea. There will also be a cash bar, a DJ and gift baskets. For more information call 732-616-9124.

Also on Saturday St. Rose of Lima will be hosting a garage sale and clothing drive starting at 9 a.m. People will be able to contribute gently used clothes they no longer want, buy items that their neighbors are selling and enjoy food from a concession stand.
