DWI Checkpoints Planned Throughout Monmouth County

See when and where you can expect checkpoints to take place over Memorial Day Weekend:

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ – In preparation for Memorial Day Weekend, the Monmouth County DWI Task Force will be conducting two details throughout the weekend, DWI Task Force Coordinator Michael Schneider said.

On Friday night (May 23), the Task Force will be organizing roving patrols that involve several departments around the county. The patrols will be scheduled as early as 8 p.m. and will be working as late as 2 a.m., Schneider said.

The second detail will be a fixed DWI checkpoint in Freehold Township on Saturday night into Sunday morning.

All northbound vehicles on Route 9 will be diverted into the Juniper Plaza, where drivers will be screened for their sobriety, Schneider said. The checkpoint will run from 10 p.m. on Saturday to 2 a.m. on Sunday.

Members of the DWI Task Force will work alongside officers from the local police department during the checkpoint.

“As the ‘unofficial start to the summer season,’ Memorial Day Weekend has historically seen an uptick of DWI arrests,” Schneider said. “The goals of the DWI Task Force continue to be deterrence, education and enforcement. The Task Force wants everyone to enjoy the holiday weekend, but in a responsible manner.”
