FoodStock Stocks Local Food Banks
Local residents help collect lots of food and funds for people in need.

A group of local residents once again showed what people can accomplish when they work together to help others in need. The annual Foodstock event was held last month and by the time the day was done more than 36,000 pounds of food and $20,000 in cash was donated by family, friends and corporate sponsors.
Jennifer Swisher, one of the people responsible for the drive said mini food drives were held at the local schools, the Freehold Township Municipal Building and the Freehold Senior Center. There was also a neighborhood drop so locals could donate food without having to leave the comfort of their own home.
The main attraction to FoodStock was a party at a local home that included five bands as well as food and other entertainment. Swisher said the food was given to Lunch Break in Freehold and Open Door and Feed all Gods Children in Freehold. Swisher said it was a total team effort with younger volunteers helping with the neighborhood drops and volunteering on the day of the event and helping to deliver the food.

Collecting tons of food and tens of thousands of dollars, Swisher said is a job for more than just one person which contributes to the overall success. “Without all the community support this would not be possible.”
