Freehold Borough To Host Blood Drive In Honor Of Lifelong Resident

Bill Madden has been volunteering for the borough community for 70+ years. Now, the borough will honor him with their blood drive event.

FREEHOLD BOROUGH, NJ — Freehold Borough resident Bill Madden has been volunteering for the health and well-being of the Freehold community for over 70 years, and this May, the Borough Board of Health will recognize his work by hosting a blood drive in his honor.

On Tuesday, May 13, the Board of Health will host their blood drive at Freehold Elks Lodge #1454 from 2-7 p.m., with drive donations set to go to the American Red Cross to help those in need.

“Bill is a lifelong resident of Freehold Borough and has given countless hours serving this community in many, many ways,” borough officials said in an online post. “Thank Bill for his commitment to our health over the past 70 years and make an appointment to donate blood.”

Madden began volunteering with the Freehold First Aid Squad in 1952, officials said.

Since starting his volunteer work, he has served as a valued squad member by answering calls, holding leadership positions and acting as a role model.

In addition to his service for the Freehold First Aid Squad, he also served on the borough Board of Health for nearly 45 years. Altogether, Madden has been volunteering for the local community for over 70 years.

“Please continue the commitment Bill has to this community and thank him for his years of dedication by donating in his honor,” officials said. “All it takes is a little time!”
