Freehold Borough Represented at National Youth Scholars Program

The school year may have just started, but two Freehold Borough students have already been acknowledged for an academic accomplishment.

The Freehold Borough Mayor and Council honored Michael and Emily Ruegger after they participated in the National Young Scholars Program in Princeton over the summer.

“This is a national program for intellectually gifted individuals in third through fifth grade. They must demonstrate academic acumen, maturity, and a high degree of leadership potential,” explained Council President Sharon Shutzer. “This speaks well not only for the Ruegger family, it speaks well for our K-8 district, for all the teachers that you [students] had, and especially for all the characteristics exhibited by these fine students.

The siblings each received a certificate that was presented to them by Shutzer, Freehold Learning Center Principal Ronnie Dougherty and Borough Board of Education President Annette Jordan.
