Masks To Be Required At Freehold Regional High Schools This Fall

FREEHOLD, NJ — Freehold Regional High School District Superintendent Charles Sampson addressed the mask mandate announced this month by Gov. Phil Murphy in a welcome back letter to the community.

"We understand that this year’s opening is not exactly what we expected," Sampson said. "As a result, all students, faculty, and visitors will wear a face-covering unless an exception is granted."

The state-wide mask mandate does allow for several exceptions, including kids under two years old, when someone has trouble breathing and in certain situations involving high-intensity physical activities, among others.

According to Sampson, thousands of students participated in the district's summer programs, including the College Application Bootcamp, Extended School Year and Advanced Placement Summer-

"These programs helped pave a strong foundation for the transition back to full-day, in-person learning for all students as we look to a smooth opening for the 2021-2022 school year," the superintendent said.

Officials will continue to work to ensure a safe learning environment for full-day in-person instruction.

"Our school district, and, more specifically, the people within this district, have provided an exceptional experience for the children we serve throughout the pandemic. I know that we will continue to serve as a model for other districts locally and nationally in meeting our student needs regardless of circumstance," Sampson said.
