Freehold Resident Faces Carjacking, Weapons Charges

Incident occurred on or about November 12.

A Freehold resident faces charges from an incident happening in Freehold Township last week including carjacking and possession of a weapon.

According to court documents Miguel Lopez, 33, of Monmouth Avenue was charged with carjacking for an incident on or about November 12 when he is alleged to have attempted to take a 1997 Mercury Villager from the driver by striking them in the head with a knife.

The use of knife resulted in a charge of aggravated assault for using the handle of the knife to hit the person and a charge of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.
