Freehold Holding A 9/11 Anniversary Memorial Ceremony

FREEHOLD, NJ — The Freehold Township Committee is holding a 9/11 20th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony at 10 a.m. on Sept. 11.

The event will be held at the Municipal Plaza 9/11 Monument, located at the corner of Schanck and Stillwells Corner Roads.

Township residents and guests are welcomed to attend.

Later in the day, the Monmouth County shoreline will light up with cellphones from residents and elected officials.

The plan is to get everyone to turn on their lights at 8:46 p.m, honoring "the heroes" of Sept.11, 2001.

The Board of County Commissioners is also inviting families of Monmouth County 9/11 victims to attend a Memorial Ceremony at 8 a.m. at Mount Mitchill Scenic Overlook, at 460 Ocean Boulevard, Atlantic Highlands.
