Freehold Township To Host National Night Out Event Tuesday

On Aug. 1, the Freehold Township National Night Out first responder-community event will take place at the iPlay America parking lot.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — The township Police Department, along with fire and first aid organizations, will host a free community event Tuesday, Aug. 1, to mark National Night Out.

The community is invited to the event from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 110 Schanck Road, at the iPlay America parking lot. iPlay said after 5 p.m. visitors to the event can get free rides there, too.

Visitors to the event can meet local police and other first responders and explore emergency equipment and vehicles.

Plus, there will be free pizza, cotton candy and snacks.

National Night Out is held in most states on the first Tuesday of August. It began decades ago with residents turning on porch lights, but it now is a community event.

"National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances," the organization establishing the program says on its website.
