Habitat For Humanity To Close Freehold ReStore In Spring 2026
Rising retail rental costs and reduced funding for nonprofits were among the reasons the organization cited for the closure. See details:

FREEHOLD, NJ — Monmouth County Habitat for Humanity is set to close its Freehold ReStore in the spring, the organization recently announced.
In a statement posted on Friday, the organization said its decision to close the store (which sells high-quality, gently-used furniture, appliances and home goods at affordable prices) is based on “thoughtful evaluation and consideration of ongoing economic challenges.”
The organization went on to cite rising retail rental costs, reduced funding for nonprofits, and a challenging economic retail environment that have made it “impossible to sustain operations” at the Freehold location.

“This decision was not easy, but it allows us to focus our resources on what matters most — our affordable housing programs serving families and individuals throughout Monmouth County,” the organization said.
Though the Freehold ReStore is set to close in Spring 2026, it will continue operating until then, so customers are welcome to continue shopping there until a closing date is announced, officials said.

Once the Freehold ReStore closes, the organization said customers can continue to shop and donate at their smaller Asbury Park ReStore.
“We are grateful to everyone who has shopped, donated, and volunteered with us in Freehold over the past decade — your support has helped to build homes, neighborhoods, and hope,” the organization said.
“As we move forward, we invite you to remain involved in our affordable housing programs, which will continue to grow and serve Monmouth County, and to support us by shopping and donating at our smaller Asbury Park ReStore,” the organization continued.
“Thank you for being part of our mission and for helping us continue to build a stronger Monmouth County. ”
According to the Monmouth County Habitat for Humanity website, Freehold ReStore will continue offering donation pickups across Monmouth County for larger items like furniture, with donation pickups expected to be scheduled until the end of January 2026.
The organization said they also plan to commemorate the Freehold ReStore’s decade of service with customers, volunteers and donors before closing. Details about sales or community events will be announced closer to the closure date.
