Labor Day Weekend DWI Checkpoint Set For Freehold Twp. Friday

Sobriety checkpoints this weekend - in Freehold Township and Holmdel - remind motorists not to drink and drive this Labor Day weekend.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — The Monmouth County DWI Task Force will be conducting two checkpoints this Labor Day weekend.

"The Labor Day weekend is historically one of the busiest weekends of the year and unfortunately one of those weekends where officers encounter a greater number of impaired drivers," said Task Force Coordinator Chief Michael Schneider, Allenhurst.

Here are the checkpoints:

  • The first checkpoint will be Friday, Sept. 1, from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday in Freehold Twp. All northbound vehicles on Route 9 will be diverted into Juniper Plaza.
  • The second will be Saturday, Sept. 2, from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday in Holmdel. All southbound vehicles on Route 35 will be diverted into the Dearborn Market parking lot.

During both checkpoints, officers from the local towns will be working alongside Task Force members to screen each driver for sobriety.

"The Task Force is reminding all motorists to please make good decisions over this holiday weekend. Some poor decisions have life-altering consequences," Schneider said.
