Man Fatally Hit By Car While Walking On Route 9 In Freehold Twp.
A man visiting from Guyana died when he was struck by a car traveling on Route 9 south Monday; Freehold Township police are investigating.
FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — A pedestrian visiting from Guyana was fatally struck by a car driven by a Manalapan woman on Route 9 in Freehold Township early Monday morning, Freehold Township police said.
The accident happened at about 7 a.m. Jan. 9 when police were called to the accident at the intersection of Route 9 south and Schibanoff Lane.
The car, being driven in the south right lane of Route 9, collided with the pedestrian within the crosswalk. Freehold First Aid and Atlantic Health paramedics were called to the accident.

The pedestrian, a 34-year old man visiting from Guyana, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 63-year-old woman from Manalapan who was driving was uninjured.
The accident is under investigation by Freehold Township Police’s Serious Crash Reconstruction Unit, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team (SCART).
