Manalapan Man Fatally Struck In Freehold Vehicle Collision

Frank Tommasini, 76, was pronounced dead on the scene in a crash that happened Wednesday morning, prosecutors said.

FREEHOLD, NJ — A 76-year-old man was struck and killed by a van Wednesday morning and the death is currently under investigation, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said Thursday afternoon.

At approximately 11:23 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, prosecutors said members of the Freehold Borough Police Department responded to the scene of a crash in the area of State Highway 33 Business (Park Avenue) near Ann Street.

According to prosecutors, a 65-year-old man driving a 2022 Ram ProMaster cargo van was traveling westbound on State Highway 33 Business near Ann Street when he struck Frank Tommasini of Manalapan.

Tommasini was crossing the road from a nearby parking lot and was pronounced dead at the scene, prosecutors said.

According to prosecutors, the driver remained at the scene and no charges or summonses have been issued regarding the incident at this time.

An investigation involving members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team and the Freehold Borough Police Department remains active and ongoing, officials said.
