Optum Closing Medical Offices, Including In Monmouth County: See Where
Optum, a UnitedHealth company, plans to lay off 572 NJ workers through February, with many medical practices closing after this month.
MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ — Optum, a health provider owned by UnitedHealth, is set to close dozens of medical offices across New Jersey and lay off as many as 572 workers in the coming months, including in Monmouth County.
The company began sending letters to patients on Monday informing them of medical practices that will close as of Nov. 30 — including some pediatric and specialty offices, and all of the company's mental health practices statewide.
In Monmouth County, it includes the following offices, according to NJ.com:

- Gastroenterology (3200 Sunset Ave. Ste. 208, Ocean)
- Endocrinology (3200 Sunset Ave. Ste. 107, Ocean)
- Primary Care (3200 Sunset Ave. Ste. 100, Ocean)
- Diabetic Foot Care (3200 Sunset Ave. Ste. 107, Ocean)
- Rheumatology (1500 Allaire Ave. 203B, Ocean)
- Podiatry (142 Highway 35 Ste. 104, Eatontown)
- Pediatric (495 Iron Bridge Road, Suite 1, Freehold)
- Pediatric (70 Ramtown-Greenville Road, Howell)
- Pediatric (831 Tennent Road, Suite 1A, Manalapan)
- Pediatric (4000 State Route 66, Suite 125, Tinton Falls)

According to four notices filed with the state of New Jersey on Oct. 1 — required in advance of mass layoffs — Optum Care will lay off 390 employees statewide, with most paid through Feb. 2.
Separately, Optum Medical Care will lay off 122 employees in Secaucus by February and March. Optum Select Services and Optum Management are laying off 60 workers total, the notices said.

"As part of our commitment to making health care more affordable, we regularly review our services, footprint and staffing levels to ensure they meet the needs of the people we serve, our business and evolving market dynamics,” an Optum spokesperson said.
“We will continue to provide pediatric, primary care, cardiology, rheumatology and urgent care in certain locations across New Jersey,” the spokesperson continued. “We are providing clear information and support to our patients to ensure uninterrupted care."
